Manual Lymphatic Drainage Treatments

Each session starts with a conversation about the client's medical history and current well-being in order to personalize the treatment. The light touch utilized in Manual Lymph Drainage is designed to move the skin in specific directions in order to stretch and stimulate the opening of the initial lymphatics just below the surface of the skin. A majority of lymph fluid resides underneath the surface of the skin. This plane of fluid, located above the muscle bed, is what we are effecting in MLD. The lymphatic technique feels like seaweed undulating in the ocean- It's calming, and relaxing while deeply therapeutic. By optimizing the lymphatic system, we minimize sluggish build up and accumulated toxins. This technique allows the body to sink into the parasympathetic nervous system, where healing can occur.  Along with concentrating on the client's particular health needs, the overarching goals of each treatment are to boost immunity and to reduce inflammation.

Self-care

As you progress through our sessions, you will learn self-massage sequences. These protocols will empower you to take charge of boosting your immunity and maintain your lymphatic health.

Exercise & Diet
Maintaining a positive relationship with food is essential to a healthy lymphatic system. We can refer you to nutritionists and health experts when you are looking to overhaul your eating habits.

Specific types of exercises will help stimulate lymph flow in your body. Your specialist will review your goals and medical history and help you determine what is right for your individual needs.

Skin & Nail Care
The lymphatic system absorbs a significant amount of what you put on your skin. Dried, cracked skin can allow bacteria to enter your body easily and spread infections. We can suggest a variety of products made without harsh chemicals and preservatives that will promote lymphatic health.

Are you a candidate for compression?
Your lymphatic specialist will discuss with you if you are a candidate for compression sleeves, stockings or Complete Decongestive Therapy bandaging.
